Table of Contents
1. Cooking class at Wayne Art Center
413 Maplewood Ave, Wayne, PA 19087
My husband and I tried out an Italian cooking class at the Wayne Art Center for one of our date ideas in Philly, and it was honestly a blast. They provide all of the instructions, materials and ingredients, and printed recipes to take home after the class. The instructor was knowledgeable and helpful, and the class was pretty small.
2. Kayaking at Marsh Creek Park
700 Park Rd, Downingtown, PA 19335
Marsh Creek Park is such a gem of a spot! Head to the boat rental to pick up a kayak, canoe, or stand up paddleboard (life jackets are included in the rental, too) and take a lap or two around the reservoir. End the night with a picnic dinner and enjoy the sunset over the lake.
3. Take a class at Blue Heron in downtown Malvern
13 E King St, Malvern, PA 19355
Blue Heron is one of my absolute favorite date ideas in Philly spots. With the most unique lineup of classes and events – everything from focaccia decorating to cocktail making to cookie icing – there’s something for everyone. After your class, stroll down King Street and stop by Alba for dinner.
4. Enjoy live theater at People’s Light
39 Conestoga Road, Malvern PA 19355
Tucked away on Conestoga Road in Malvern, People’s Light is the spot to go to if you’re into live theater. There is an ever-changing lineup of performances and other special events (there’s a Valentine’s Day drag buffet which I think sounds amazing).
5. Visit the Wharton Esherick & head to Phoenixville for dinner
1520 Horseshoe Trail, Malvern, PA 19355
Tucked away on one of the most winding roads you’ve ever been on, Wharton Esherick museum. It’s the home of the famous American artist Wharton Esherick, and showcases his home and studio. Note that the tours are by appointment only, so be sure to register in advance. The museum isn’t far from Phoenixville which has a plethora of restaurants to choose from!
6. Tour the Brandywine Museum of Art
1 Hoffman’s Mill Road P.O. Box 141 Chadds Ford, PA 19317
Not only does the Brandywine Museum of Art have quite the collection of Wyeth family work, but there are plenty of events (check out their event page here) and opportunities to tour Andrew Wyeth’s studio.
7. Take a pottery class at the Main Line Art Center
746 Panmure Rd, Haverford, PA 19041
I love art classes as date ideas in Philly, and pottery is a truly hands-on way to dip your toes into an artsy endeavor. Main Line Art Center has a wealth of classes and options that only require a one-day commitment. White Dog is down the road if you’re looking for a dinner spot before or after, too!
8. Head to a show at the Ardmore Music Hall.
23 E Lancaster Ave, Ardmore, PA 19003
One of our favorite date nights is dinner and live music; and if you don’t want to make the trip into Philadelphia for a show, consider Ardmore Music Hall. I love that it’s an intimate venue – and you can pair up with a couple to rent a booth together for the show!
9. Try out rock climbing as a date ideas in Philly
B-3 3500 Scotts Lane Philadelphia, PA 19129
Philadelphia Rock Gym is our local rock climbing spot and they have locations all over the area, from Malvern to East Falls. If you’re slightly competitive (slightly…😂) like we are, this is such a fun way to start off the night. Don’t worry about needing to purchase gear for the night – PRG supplies it!
10. Take a trip to the arcade
There are so many great arcade options for a date night in Philadelphia; there’s everything from Barcade and Dave and Busters, if you’re into a larger spot, or my personal favorite Pinball Gallery in Frazer (right around the corner from People’s Light if you wanted to do both!).
