I love coming back to Philadelphia to photograph newborn sessions in client homes. We lived in the city for years and believe it or not, Lyndon’s home was right around the corner – less than half a block! – from our old home in South Philadelphia.

I think it’s hard to find a spot in Longwood Gardens for a family or maternity session that isn’t spectacular, even in the coldest winter months.

A baby’s first year of life is truly the longest shortest time. One day, you’re heading home with a teensy newborn, head fitting in the palm of your hand – and a few months later, your baby is crawling around the house and coming into their own as a person.

The Omene family was so much fun to photograph; in the first five minutes, the girls were rolling on the grass, climbing on me to look at my camera, and chasing each other around the grounds.

Maternity photography plays second fiddle to a newborn session, but I’m gonna share with you why I think it’s so important to schedule a maternity session, too.
