Going out to eat with the family? You’ll love this list of Main Line restaurants – all are kid friendly but don’t sacrifice good food or ambiance. When my kids were little – and especially in the winter – we went out to eat just to get out of the house and for a change of scenery…everywhere from the local pizza place to something more special for a celebration.

There are so many Main Line restaurants that are perfect for a date night or special occasion, but sometimes ya just need an easy, casual place to take the kids. Here are some of my favorites!

main line restaurants

1. Christopher’s in Wayne, PA

108 N Wayne Ave, Wayne, PA 19087

The day that Christopher’s in Malvern closed was a day that was heard all around the 19355 zip code. Thankfully, there’s still a Christopher’s in Wayne and it remains, to this day, one of my kids’ favorite places to eat. Expect a balloon & crayons to color, along with a kids menu – but also lots of choices for a more sophisticated palette. Food comes out surprisingly quickly and there are always a bunch of kiddos in the restaurants, too. There’s a reason why Christopher’s is known as incredibly kid-friendly amongst all of the Main Line restaurants – highly recommend. Pro tip: stop by Main Point books while you’re in the area and visit the downstairs children’s book selection.

2. Minella’s Diner in Wayne, PA

320 Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087

3. Brick & Brew in Malvern, Media, and Havertown PA

400 E. King Street, Malvern, PA 19355
31 E. Eagle Rd. Havertown 19083
26 W, State Street, Media, PA 19063

Christopher’s in Malvern closed, but what opened right down the street? Brick and Brew! My kids will never forget being given a small amount of pizza dough to make their own pie. The interior is super neat, and there’s an option to sit outside. There is a kids menu, but lots of flatbreads to choose from if they feel like breaking out of their routine. My husband likes the extensive beer list, and the menu is always changing. Pro tip: there’s a steep staircase when you enter that isn’t the most stroller friendly (there is a handicapped entrances) and if you didn’t get your fill of dessert at the restaurants, head to Scoops and Smiles after!

4. La Cabra Brewing in Berwyn, PA and Bryn Mawr, PA

642 Lancaster Avenue, Berwyn, PA, 19312

Right off of Lancaster Ave, La Cabra is a great option to throw into your Main Line restaurant rotation. There’s a really extensive menu for this gastropub & brewery; no dedicated kids menu but lots of kid friendly options like a gourmet mac ‘n cheese assortment and fun appetizers like hummus and buffalo chicken dip.

The front windows are open on a nice day, and your kid can yell TRUCK! CAR! a million times as traffic goes by (please tell me it wasn’t just mine). The parking lot in the back is pretty small but there is street parking on Lancaster Ave. Pro tip: head to Handel’s afterwards; for my allergy families, they will open a new container of ice cream for you!

5. Landing Kitchen in Bala Cynwyd, PA

617 Righters Ferry Road Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004

Live music. Dining al fresco. Cornhole. What else can you ask for? The minute I saw videos of The Landing Kitchen pop up in my Instagram feed, I knew I had to bring the kids there. They’re happiest eating outside! There’s a small kids menu but plenty of options for the little ones, including yogurt and pastries. There are all sorts of family friendly events, like trivia nights and movie nights, and pets are invited as well!
