First Birthday Party Venues in Philadelphia
Smith Memorial Playground
Smith Memorial Playground is home to the famous Ann Newman Giant Wooden Slide among its 6.5 acre playground with different areas of play. It also has an historic playhouse with 3 levels of interactive play if you’re looking for an indoor space. Parties can be booked in a few different spaces that can accommodate 30-40 guests in 2-hour blocks on Saturdays and Sundays. You’ll bring your own food and decorations, and you’re also welcome to bring additional entertainers like a face painter, balloon artist, etc.
Rutabaga Toy Library
Rutabaga Toy Library is like a book library, except instead of books you can borrow toys when you join. It’s a great, more sustainable solution for children’s toys and is especially helpful if you have limited storage at home. Plus, regular toy rotation has been shown to keep kids more engaged in play. Rutabaga Toy Library brings this same eco-friendly approach to their kids’ birthday parties, with reusable dishware, handmade decorations, and a guided Eco-Play Activity. The toys available during your party will be tailored to the age of the kids attending, so you can be assured that they will be safe and engaging.

Franklin Square
Historic Franklin Square offers lots of green space and opportunity for fun, perfect for little kids to run around and play. Within the square you’ll find seven acres of green space surrounding its central fountain, in addition to the Parx Liberty Carousel, Philly Mini Golf Course, a playground, and more. You can choose from indoor, outdoor, and tented options for kids parties, which include access to the all-ages playground and tickets for mini golf and the carousel for adults and kids ages 3+.
NEST
NEST is a multi-faceted, family-friendly space that includes an indoor playground, kids salon, toy boutique, and cafe. If you’re looking to throw a party with a large guest list, their space can accommodate up to 100 people. You can choose either their upstairs gym or downstairs playspace, plus they have a ton of add-on options including catering, activities, entertainment, and decor. NEST is a great option if you’re looking to just show up and have everything taken care of (although you can also choose a more DIY approach if you’d prefer, too).
Kith + Kin
The last on our list for first birthday party venues in Philadelphia is Kith + Kin. Kith + Kin is a super adorable, family-centered space, offering a play area in addition to educational classes and support groups. You can host a smaller group up to 25 during their open hours, or a private party option for up to 50. Tables, chairs, decor, and more are included and you are welcome to bring in food or use their catering options.
