The search for the right newborn photographer can seem overwhelming. There are so many choices! Where to begin?
Here are my tip three tips (plus one bonus tip!) to choosing your newborn photographer:
✨ Ask to see full galleries, whether in-home or studio. I can’t stress this enough – Instagram is a highlight reel. Even websites (of course) show the best of the best! You want to see full sessions from soup to nuts as your newborn photographer should be experienced in a variety of spaces and lighting conditions.
✨Read reviews! I tell clients all the time that reviews are the best way to get a sense of what it’s like working with me. I’m super proud of the 116 five star reviews that clients have left me and I think it’s the best way to understand what the newborn experience is like with me.
✨ What other options does the newborn photographer offer that will make the session easier for you? I offer clients a complimentary extensive studio wardrobe (with over 170+ dresses and a full range for children up to size 10, along with style guides), hair and makeup services in studio, snacks and toys to keep kids busy, and artwork design for your portraits.
Annnddd one more bonus tip:
✨ Find a photographer who is experienced in newborns. The same way that wedding photographers and real estate photographers all have their own expertise in their fields, newborn photographers are trained to work with babies. This person will be handling your days-old child, and I can’t stress enough that you should use someone who can do that safely. Babies are also *much* different than a traditional portrait session, as they can’t pose on command and requires oodles of patience. I’ve photographed hundreds of babies over the years and have been dubbed a “baby whisperer” (and will teach ya a few tricks during your session, too 😉).
Unsure of what to wear for your session? I’ve got you covered! The studio wardrobe is available to all clients, with over 140 dresses for mamas and outfits for children and babies. Hair and makeup are also available for clients at my Main Line photography studio space so that you’re ready for your newborn session.
