Sam’s house was where I want my house to be, if I wasn’t nearly as indecisive as I am with nearly everything in my home (it took me months to choose side tables for our living room). I love old homes, and hers has the perfect little nooks and benches, beautiful hardwood floors, and the sweetest porch. Her nursery was the same; soft, feminine touches and a spot you could see a little girl growing up. Sam shared a bit about her nursery and inspiration behind her choices.
What is the theme of your nursery?
I didn’t have a theme but if I had to pick looking at the finished product I would say florals and swans.
What was the inspiration for your nursery design?
I wanted a soft color palette that was feminine and calming. I also wanted it to be a room she could grow into.
Did you work with a professional designer? If so, could you please share their name?
I did not, however, I drew inspiration and sourced a lot of the pieces from @maisonellieinteriors.
Did you include any sentimental items in your nursery, or items from your childhood? If so, please share their story!
I loved that I was able to use some pieces from my first daughter’s room such as the arched mirror. I also had to buy the sweet rattan chair when I saw it. It reminded me of the rattan furniture I had in my room growing up.
What is the most used item in your nursery? What item would you recommend for first time parents?
The hatch sound machine and blackout curtains are a must have! I also would recommend the hatch changing pad or something similar- clean us is a breeze versus having a cloth changing pad.
Did you experience any challenges with your nursery design?
I didn’t experience any challenges, but I was indecisive on how much of the room I wanted to wallpaper. I decided on an accent wall, but sometimes wonder if I should have done the whole room 🙂
Any final tips or advice?
Time flies and these babes grow so fast. I wanted to make sure the design of the nursery and the pieces we purchased could grow with her so we wouldn’t have to change everything in a few years. I would recommend picking neutral colored pieces like your crib and your drapes that can transition to a new design as they get older or transition to another nursery if your adding another little one to your family.
